I met Jason Feather when I was photographing an event for 944 at his gallery, Gallery AKA. Photographing musicians in San Diego can be a lot of fun. You have free reign to play around, try out new techniques and really challenge yourself with different lighting. In order to show what these guys really do, we shot at a club in downtown San Diego called Voyeur, where Jason is currently finishing a mural he has been painting. Voyeur is a great space to photograph in. There are so many fun, graphic elements that really flow with the vibe of Beat Panthers “house, hip hop, and electronic style”. Beat Pathner is not simply a band, but an art form. For example, take the photo with the old military style telephone. Jason has converted it into a microphone which he uses when he performs.
