Megan and Greg have been to their fair share of weddings and one thing they noticed is they are all very cookie cutter. So, in typical Megan fashion, they decided to break the mold….no, obliterate it. The bridge-and-groom-to-be, along with their 50+ guests, headed to the swanky Cabo Azul Resort in San Jose del Cabo for a destination wedding! This breathtaking resort, nestled between the historic town of San Juan and the Pacific Ocean, is where the bride and groom planned to exchange their vows on the night of the “blue moon.” For their engagement session, we headed into old San Juan. The quaint town, stretching only a few miles across, bustling with life and filled with buildings of every color of the rainbow, perfectly captured the essence of “Gregan.” They couldn’t have picked a more appropriate place on earth to tie the knot. Late the next evening, long after the sun had gone down, the ceremony began. Megan, looking especially gorgeous that night, proceeded down the candlelit aisle in a beautiful long black dress, but given her propensity to jump off the bandwagon and run in the opposite direction, we didn’t expect anything less! At each place setting, in Mexican fashion, were small bottles of Patron and maracas, which definitely helped spice up the night! The party carried on for hours with dancing, including a saucy tango performed by the bride and groom!
Although the weekend could have been, and really should have been, all about Megan and Greg, they went to great lengths to ensure there wasn’t an empty glass or a smileless face the entire weekend!
It is such an honor when couples want to take me with them on their destination wedding or fly me out to where ever they are. I have been to many locations outside my home town, some tropical like Cabo and others not, but the feeling of gratitude is still the same. That someone would like my work so much and value what I do to want me there with them to document it means the world to me. Shooting a destination wedding rejuvenates me creatively! It takes me out of what I see and photograph everyday and puts me in new and sometimes challenging situations. I love it! Hey, and if I can get a tan at the same time, that’s pretty great too!
