A dream of mine is to photograph wild animals. Specifically, baby wild animals, but beggars can’t be choosers. I’ve been shooting pet photography here in San Diego for many years. If National Geographic wont hire me to photograph wild animals the next best thing was how I spent my weekend!
Christian took me to Wild Wonders Zoofari in Bonsall. He knows how huge my heart is for animals and how badly I want to go somewhere like Thailand to photograph and play with baby tigers. We have also been talking for a while about buying Sugar Gliders, we even had names picked out, and unfortunately they are illegal in our home town of San Diego, California. Luckily for me, Wild Wonders Zoofaris has these animal and more! Over 150 different animals. Their goal is to educate and excite the public and foster a desire to preserve and learn about the wildlife and the important role they play in our planet. And boy, was I excited to photograph these guys! There is also a Wild animal park in San Diego that is great to shoot at.
We spent the evening enjoying wine and appetizers, while they brought out some of the cutest little animals for us to see and pet. After we wandered the grounds checking out each habitat and taking pictures of everything, we met Victor the Cheetah. He was marvelous, so muscular. I was so close I could smell his breath. I didn’t know whether to pick up my camera and take a picture or just stare at him!! All I wanted to do is hug him, but I restrained myself.
Since I probably wont be able to photograph for Nat Geo, unless you know someone. I would love to work or volunteer with an organization like WW one day. I think it is important to share the gifts you have and if my gift of pet photography and the love of animals can be combined that would be amazing! If your looking for a pet photographer in San Diego, please contact me today! Please have a look at the other pet photography sessions I’ve done in the animal category. Thanks!
This is little Ollie the Kinkajou. He was so playful! As soon as we walked up to his habitat, he was all over the cage trying to play with us!
Are you kidding me! A Sugar Glider in my hands! I was ready to stick her in my pocket… they call them pocket pets after all! So stinking cute!
Ah! Chloe is so cute! She looks like an Anteater and she is all nose!
Kim feeding the sweet little Binturong.
An iphone shot with Olivia!
Now after being with all those wild animals, i really see the resemblance. I think Sophie sure looks like she is from the monkey family.
